Chancellor George Osbourne's speech at the Port of Tilbury

31/03/2014

HW Wilson ltd were invited, along with other local businesses, to a speech by The Chancellor George Osbourne today at the Port of Tilbury.  He chose this venue as it has created so many jobs for local people - which was one fo the main points he discusssed today, along with tax changes.

Helping people find and get into work was a focus, including encouraging a life of work rather than on benefits, and we were personally praised for employing and retaining apprentices. We are extremely proud of all of our 5 apprentices we have from the last few years, two of which joined us for the speech. Employing local people has been one of the qualities we have endeavored to promote since the company began, and now helping the continuous development of all of our staff is a strong value we uphold.  It's great to see the Chancellor promoting the same values.

One of our new starters, Dave Hancock from Grays, also gave a debrief interview with the BBC afterwards.  For more infomation on what was discussed at the speech, check out www.yourthurrock.com.
